Screenshot applications may have certain limitations, so you would need different tools, if you want to capture an image and add a neat effect. Screenshot Captor does not restrict you to a few features for adding text or other annotations to your snapshots. Besides the fact that it makes it easier to work with screenshots, the software places a wide variety of tools at your disposal, which you can use to manipulate the captured images. Different capturing modes, easy to apply effects and the possibility of uploading images manually or automatically, these are just a few of the capabilities Screenshot Captor has to offer.

The software is free and you can install it in a matter of seconds, but you will need to create an online account, validate it and generate an activation key, if you don't want to encounter a nag screen. Screenshot Captor is compatible with any Windows version, from Win 95 to Win 8, and it does not ask for too many resources.

You may capture the entire screen, a selected region, an active window or a specific object of that window. The available capturing options can be found in the Capture menu, on the software's interface, but you can also right click its system tray icon to reveal the same options. When you take a screenshot, the software will present a series of new options in a small window. You can choose to discard the image, keep it and load it into the main interface, copy the image to the clipboard, save it, print it and more.

Besides taking snapshots of the screen, it is also possible to load existing pictures from local folders or to import them from a scanner. A series of options are located next to the main editing area and you can use them to insert various annotations. Furthermore, you can make numerous adjustments for each annotation. For example, it is possible to change transparency levels, colors, fonts, blending modes and more. You may also add various borders, blur inside or outside a selection, crop the image or use it to generate a thumbnail.

Special effects can be found in a top menu, with the same name. Most of them can be applied to the selections you make by drawing a rectangle or other shapes. Depending on your choice, a selection may be blurred or dimmed, it may glow and pop out and so on. You can also adjust colors, color depth, apply bump map or lens effects and much more. You don't have to open a Save dialog to store your images. You can type a name in the lower region of the interface and click a button to save it instantly. You can explore saved images and any other location on your hard drive, on the left side of the window.

Pros:
You can choose between different capturing methods and load your screenshots into the main interface right away. Screenshot Captor includes numerous options for applying and adjusting effects. Images can be saved instantly and you may also upload them or attach them to emails.

Cons:
The capturing options are not made available as buttons on the software's interface.

With Screenshot Captor, you can do much more than take snapshots of your screen. It gives you the possibility of transforming your screenshots anyway you want, without too much effort.
